Rosalind Russell

When I visit my parents it always takes at least 9 hours of traveling by train to get there. And of course i have to get back home, too. Usually I read and listen to mp3s all the time but this time I had a very private movie marathon. I watched 6 movies from the very early 30s to the 50s. The movie I enjoyed most was "His girl friday" with Cary Grant (rawr!) and Rosalind Russell. So I decided that, since I don´t have much to show at the moment, I´ll give you a big bunch of pictures of wonderful Rosalind.

Happy holidays!

In my family we´re already done with the big christmas cakes, gift giving and laughing. Let me just say that it was one of the best christmases in a loooong time, although they are always great. My little cousin announced that she´s having a baby and I´m super excited about it. Now I´ve got a reason to knit baby clothes, yay!

I wish you all a wonderful christmas time full of laughter, great food and presents...

...and, most of all, loads of love!

Winter, finally

The back says "5. April 1931". They´re part
of the found people.

It´s been snowing since last night and I´m super excited. Like every year when I see the first snow. Sadly, it´ll be gone by tomorrow.

Modenzeitung fürs Deutsche Haus 20/1936

That´s what it is, I guess. It came without a cover but with all the patterns, so I don´t mind. It also seems like the magazine kept at least one kid entertained ;)

I freaked out a bit when I saw les PANTS! I´ve been
on the hunt for a pattern for ages so this was a great
surprise.

More found people

How could I resist these faces? I mean, look at that guy!

One of my favorites. The composition, the things going around
in the background, the hair.

Darmol is a laxative. I wonder what kind of costume requires
such stuff?

Just in time for christmas.

Seriously glamorous mom.

Deep inside I freaked out a little when I found this
one. It´s in colour and the ladies look absolutely fab.

I now collect people

I´ve been a lazy blogger lately. Life keeps me busy, so does knitting. I´m trying to use every free minute I have to knit my scarf that is by now 2/3 done. Luckily winter´s still far away at the moment. But today I took a few minutes to scan some of the photos I bought the other day. I bought 8 pictures, some of them I will use for postcard illustrations (don´t worry, no vintage pictures will be harmed in the process of illustrating!), the other ones I´ll show you right now:

"Long before Jeff D., Lana tried to make a living
as a ventriloquist. Her puppet on the other hand
was a bit shy."

Sept. 1941
Not sure about the triangles on this dress...

The back says "1x Ausschnitt P.K." Maybe she
wanted to give it to her sweetheart? I´ve got
another picture of her saying that her name is
Elsbeth.

a) the dress, b)the garden scenery, c)Awwww!

I really enjoy looking at snapshots of funny or fashionable strangers so I´ll have to look for more in the future. Other things I bought recently:

Fabric, buttons, a little tin for my needles and a picture of a woman that I think was called Gertrud. I also got two 30s pattern magazines that are full of awesome things. And, oh my god I never thought the day would come, I just ordered a pair of Freddies of Pinewood "Classic". A christmas present by the Mr.s grandma. So excited! I hope they fit and look wowie on my chubby little flatbutt ;).
